Story: Upon learning of his mother's sudden heart condition, Carlton Garrett is faced with the challenge of fulfilling her dire wish to bring his estranged father to the hospital before the operation. Carlton and his friend, Lucy, set off to Ohio where they find his legendary professional athlete father, Kyle Garrett. After much convincing, chasing and missed flights due to Kyle's mischievous behaviour, the awkward threesome head for Houston in a rented car. As they drive down south, both father and son are obliged to re-examine their pasts and shed the protective layers of their individual personalities.
